What does hope look like for today?

Updated: Dec 9, 2023

For many, it is a matter of hard work. We look for hope in the wrong places. For others, it is looking for self-help books to prop us up.

Someone once said, "Hope is not a birthday wish. It's not based on percentages or possibilities that something could happen."

hope

Our Hope is anchored in the Word of God and his promises. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV.

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? Numbers 23:19 ESV.

The character of God, the word of God, and his promises remain the same.

They never change. You can take it to the bank.

hope

You may be in the worst storm of your life right now. Everything is upside down.

Climate change and the hurricane might devastate parts of our Country.

These life's changing circumstances will never change who God is.

God will keep His promises because he is a faithful God.

Our confidence is in the fact that we know the person of Hope - God is our Hope.

Rather than depending on self-help books or positive thinking, let's lay hold of God when everything is failing.

Let us lay hold of God's word to lead us through. Let us lay hold of God's promises by remembering his faithfulness and how far He has brought us.

Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.' Isaiah 41:10 NKJV.

hope

I cannot help but remind us of one of my favorite hymns, which says:

"My Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus' name. -One Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." GTG Hymnal

Let all God's children say AMEN!
