For the WHO, mental health is now a priority.
WHO (Word Health Organization) considers mental health as a fundamental pillar of individual and collective well-being, advocating for its promotion, prevention, treatment and support at the global level. It recognizes that mental health must be addressed with the same importance and priority as physical health in order to achieve sustainable and equitable human development.
From the perspective of psychology, mental health is a critical factor that influences people's quality of life in a variety of ways. Psychological professionals study and address how mental health impacts on people's daily lives, interpersonal relationships, emotional well-being and overall functioning.
Adequate mental health enables people to experience positive emotions and to manage negative emotions in a healthy way. This contributes to emotional balance and greater satisfaction with life in general.
Seeking help is a sign of strength — not a weakness. And it is important to remember that treatment is effective. People who get appropriate care can recover from mental illness and addiction and lead full, rewarding lives. (https://uhs.umich.edu/tenthings).
